Coming Back and Laying a Few Bricks

AHHH it’s been so long since I had a real post it feels like!  I’m so sorry, all 4 readers!  What can I say… it’s summer (finally!!), work is busy, life is busy…time creeps away from you.  But here I am, and today I’m going to share with you some backyard updates I’ve promised you a whole bunch of times that you probably can’t remember because I’ve hardly written a word to you in a month.  Ready?

Wall 1

See that???  No, no… not the cushions drying behind the chairs!! We built a wall!

Wall 2

An actual brick-with-mortor wall in the corner of our backyard!

Wall 3

Crazy cute, isn’t it??  We tackled this project over Memorial Day and let me tell you, masonry work is no joke.  There’s a reason the average age of a mason is 55.  This work is HARD and these days, you don’t find a lot of people who have time for that.  And it definitely takes skill and practice!  Our little planter wall is far from perfect, but we think it’s charming!

Wall 4

We could have washed it better to get the bricks less cloudy from the mortar, but we were so exhausted by the time we were done, we left it as is and are just adding that to it’s charm!

Wall 5

I’ll go into detail of how we built this and why in another post, but we are so happy with how it turned out and the added “pizzazz” it gives the yard!

Wall 6

Here’s a quick before and after for you so you can see the impact it has to this area.

Wall Before Wall 2

Looks pretty good, right?  While we were at it, I gave our little bird house a makeover too.  Our backyard has been a journey for sure, but we’re getting there!

Every work on a masonry project?  Or paint a birdhouse?  Or just enjoy being outside and are so happy the weather is so gorgeous??  Me too!
