Getting Cozy for the New Year

I don’t know about you, but New Year’s Eve is a night spent at home for me and the hubs.  We order Chinese food (a childhood tradition in my family), have some good friends over, watch movies or TV, play games, you name it.  The past few years I don’t think I’ve made it up to the ball dropping.  Maybe I get too cozy at home.  This year, I know why I won’t make it – I’ll be curled up under our new quilt!Quilt

My sister, Monique, makes incredible quilts and this year Jake and I got our very first one for Christmas!  We are in love with it and are amazed at her talent and ability.  Besides, it’s super cozy and warm so I’ve used it pretty much every night we’ve been home!

It’s in a gorgeous chevron pattern with such amazing fabric choices.  She even had a fabric made of our “wedding logo” that we created!  And notice the maroon, white and blue middle fabrics that also matches our wedding colors??  The colors, patterns, and selections are ones which go together so beautifully, but yet are so unexpected and really thoughtful.  Quilt

Seriously, this girl needs her own Etsy shop, don’t you think?  She’s made more baby quilts than I can even count and each one is just as perfectly tailored and unique in design, colors, and fabric choices as ours is.  It’s truly an art form and speaking from this gal who can hardly sew a straight line – it’s amazing!  Birdie was in love the first time we brought it home and can’t wait to dive under it when she sees me grab for it in the evenings.

So this New Years Eve, you’ll probably find me curled up under this watching a cheesy movie with an egg roll in my hand!  We wish you all a very Happy New Year and a holiday filled with fun, love and family!   Happy New Year!

If I can convince  my sister to open a quilt store in 2014, I’ll let you all know!
