Lakeside Leaving and Homeward Bound

I shared so much with you earlier today, so short and sweet I promise!  First, I wanted to show you how Birdie spent much of her time…

BirdieCollage

She loooved sitting up on that picnic table so she could see everything.  What a nut! Before heading back to Boston, we took a visit to Jake’s hometown of Ithaca and he showed me the sites.  We went right over to Buttermilk Falls and went for a hike up the Gorge Trail which was really pretty.  Birdie loved the climb and we were very happy this place was so dog friendly!

I think we’re getting pretty good at these self-portraits! 🙂  By the way, this little 1/2 mile hike was a first for us.  In 7 years, we’ve never gone for a hike together.  We followed this with another first for us – a picnic!

A true picnic in Cass Park with a blanket in the grass, good food, and a cooler nearby!  Jake introduced me to a stromboli and I thought it was quite good!  Like a calzone, but better.. not so much crust = more filling.

The last awesome adventure before truly packing it in was just one more winery.  You saw that coming, I think though.  🙂  Ithaca is home of the Cayuga Lake Wine trail and there’s so many vineyards in this area.

Six Mile Creek Vineyard was beautiful and by far our most favorite.  It was also the only place we didn’t bring home a tasting glass from, which bummed us out, but we have these gorgeous photos, some stashed bottles of wine and will definitely return here!

Then it was time to pack it up, pack it in and head home.  We had an awesome week and already look forward to doing it again!

Such a gorgeous part of the country and it will be fun to go back and explore more!  Thanks for reading about our vacation!  I’ll be back to home improvements soon… there’s some projects that are waiting (like refinishing this bureau and trimming and painting the windows) and I’m anxious to get somethings done around the house to get ready for fall!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!
