After yesterday’s post showing some incredible lake houses, I got soooo many request to see what sort of fabulous dwelling we are staying in when we travel up to Lake Ontario. Ok, so I didn’t get any requests, but I know the four of you reading are dying to know and are just shy so I’m gonna share anyway! Mmmm, k?
When we are going on trips like this I usually look to a site like Home Away to see if there are home rentals, rather than hotels, and poke around to find one that suits our needs. In this case, we wanted to be close to Jake’s grandmother, on Lake Ontario (or a small lake just off it) and we needed a house that allowed our dog. Being unfamiliar with the towns up in that area, Home Away was easy to narrow down where we wanted to be and fish out all the pet-loving properties. We found this little gem on a lake off Ontario and near Oswego, NY.
Isn’t it darling? It’s got a great deck off the back and a charcoal grill to enjoy some dinners.
But this is really the best part!
Look at that dock! And with the bench off the end it’s perfect for casting a lazy fishing line out and seeing what we can get! We also plan on making excellent use of the Adirondack chairs as well as that firepit. I due for some 2 or 3 good novels so this looks like the perfect spot to relax and get my read on.
There’s also a picnic table for lunches and a small boat launch for, yes, the rowboat that is included and we get to use for the week! It doesn’t have a motor, but if the dock fishing isn’t exciting enough, this gives us a great option to get out on the water and experience the lake a bit more!
The inside is charming with knotty pine walls and ceilings, a full equipped kitchen, living room and sun porch.
There’s sleeping for, I’d say 4 people, here, but I haven’t seen it yet. There’s the bedroom with the double bed and the living room with the futon, but when we first booked it the listing said there was another bedroom with loft beds. We’ll have to see what happened to that space since some of the other listing photos I haven’t shared here show 4 or 5 people enjoying the property. Either way, it’s plenty of room for us 2 love birds and the pooch, so I’m sure we’ll be quite content!
We’re looking at about a 6 hour drive this Saturday to get up there, which really isn’t bad at all. I love road trips, but the hubs doesn’t much care for all the driving. He’d rather just get right up there. I’m still working on talking him into seeing some scenic places like Cooperstown, NY (thanks to my brother for the suggestion!) before we get up there. It’s not that far off the route and I’ve heard it’s quite charming. See, Jake, I put it on the blog, so now you’ll have to take me or people will ask questions. My four readers will come after you! 🙂 Just kidding… or not?
We’ll leave you with this! I can’t wait to get up there and relax………
As my Uncle Ron would say, “Happy Trails!”
