We’ve been absent quite a bit, but there’s just been so much going on and there hasn’t been much time for home projects. We’ve lost a family member who was a dear friend and father, but we also gained a family member who is beautiful, tiny, and so perfectly perfect she has her dad and mom wrapped around her finger already! As one soul was departing there was another one joining this world and it was time spent with our family to appreciate both lives. I’m not going to say much more about it, as these are stories that belong to other people, but I will say that these past couple weeks gave us such an appreciation for our wonderful family and sharing love and companionship together. It’s moments to embrace and to cherish and recreate over and over to share love and laughter together.
As we move into the final days of summer (already??), Jake and I are really looking forward to a nice long week’s vacation at a lake cottage in upstate New York. I’ve only been up there a handful of times to visit some of Jake’s family, but it is gorgeous. I’m really looking forward to seeing my husband enjoying the activities, sights, and smells he remembers so fondly as a child and being a part of that. So as we’re packing and laundering and getting the puggle ready for the journey, I’d thought I’d share some pictures of some pretty amazing lake houses that we can enjoy “virtually”!
Devils Lake House | Lincoln City, Oregon – Nathan Good Architects
This place is pretty contemporary but has a pretty small footprint. I actually love the look from the lake (left photo) and the cozy feeling all those windows give the architecture.
The different levels on the interior add a lot of interest and divide the space really well, while still maintaining that open feel. This kitchen is simply gorgeous with views while cooking and doing dishes and directly open to that dining table as well. I also love the warmth that the wood ceiling brings to the space.
This living room makes me want to curl up with a good book, a glass of wine, and some soft jazz playing in the background. I love the stone on the fireplace and the size of the firebox really adds something grand to this room. It’s a beautiful house lending something pretty grand and luxurious without being completely overblown and overstated.
This lake house speaks more to our side of the country with trees a foliage. When you pull up to it you might not even realize there’s a lake behind, but oh boy is there ever!
Gorgeous! Thom Filicia did an incredible job bringing this house back to life. And who wouldn’t love to dine under that gorgeous lantern outside the boathouse??
The interior of the home is colorful, cozy and put together in a way that is so relaxed. I could really see myself kicking off my shoes and letting go here.
I really love the ship rope stair railing and am drooling over the wallpaper and plank ceiling in the bedroom. Gorgeous home all in all!
I hope you enjoyed these lake house glimpses! We’ll definitely share stories of our vacation and pictures of course! We’re just really looking forward to unplugging from everything. It’ll give us time to refresh and come back and tackle more DIY projects! 🙂
What are you up to in these dog days of summer? Any vacations planned?
